Refresh Suitable Units

Update the Kitchen You Want to Keep

A kitchen refurbishment updates selected parts while retaining suitable existing units. Cooksey Renovation reviews the cabinet condition and layout before agreeing doors, hardware, worktops or finishes, with Lance as your main contact for the agreed work.

Keep What Still Works

Retain the cabinet boxes and layout you like, with the refresh focused on the parts you want to change.

Prioritise the Useful Changes

Compare doors, handles, storage and worktops by priority, then agree the products and work in the quote.

One Contact for the Work

Lance coordinates all fitting and connection work, with clear details of what stays and what is replaced.

Agreed Scope

What Your Kitchen Refresh Includes

Your quote names the units being retained and the doors, hardware, surfaces or finishes being changed in the agreed refresh.

Check the Existing Units

The visit reviews cabinet condition, alignment and support, including signs of swelling or damaged fixings. The agreed scope identifies which units can stay and any small repairs needed before replacement fronts or surfaces are specified.

Doors and Drawer Fronts

Replacement cupboard doors and drawer fronts need to match the existing cabinets, dimensions and hinge arrangements. Finish choices, handles and opening clearances are considered together, with parts checked before they are ordered.

Hinges, Handles and Storage

Discuss hinge and handle replacements, drawer adjustments or storage inserts that suit the retained units. Compatibility and available space are checked for the chosen products, with any fitting and minor repairs included where agreed.

Worktops, Sinks and Finishes

A new worktop can be considered where the retained units provide suitable support. Material, joints and cut-outs are agreed alongside any sink or tap replacement, connections, splashbacks and making good included in the quotation.

Discuss What Stays and What Changes

At the visit, we check the existing units, doors and worktop, then discuss your priorities. The quotation identifies what can stay, compatible replacements and any agreed repair or connection work.

Before We Start

Cost, Timing and Planning

Kitchen refurbishment cost and timing depend on the units retained, replacement parts, worktop choice and any repair or connection work.

What Shapes the Price

The quote follows unit condition, product choices and replacement quantities. Doors, hardware, worktops and any agreed repairs or connection work are itemised for the scope.

What Shapes the Timeline

The programme depends on checks, product availability and the chosen replacements. We discuss kitchen access and any service interruptions before agreeing the order of fitting.

Check the Units and Connection Work

Door and handle changes usually need no building regulations approval. Drainage or electrical work associated with the refresh may need approval, assessed for the agreed scope.

Ideas for Your Kitchen Refresh

The gallery shows examples of Cooksey’s wider kitchen and renovation work. Use the cabinet, worktop and room finishes as a starting point when discussing a refresh for your existing kitchen.

Our Process

Check the Units Before Choosing Parts

Lance starts with a site visit to review the existing units, doors and surfaces, then discuss what you want to update. Condition and compatibility checks guide the proposed refresh. The written quote records what stays, what changes and any repair or connection work. Parts and delivery arrangements are confirmed before fitting. The agreed replacements, adjustments and making good follow, with Lance coordinating the specified work and updates.

Helpful Answers

Before You Refresh Your Existing Kitchen

These answers cover retained units, replacement doors and refinishing options, helping you agree a practical scope for updating and improving an existing kitchen.

Can I keep the units and have new doors?

It depends on unit condition and compatibility. Cabinet boxes, door sizes, hinge positions and opening clearances are checked before replacement fronts and fittings are agreed.

Could the work need approval?

Changing doors or handles usually needs no building regulations approval. Drainage or electrical work within the refresh may need approval, checked for the proposed scope. Read how construction work on a home is managed before a start date is set.

Can the kitchen cabinets be resprayed?

Refinishing depends on the existing surface and proposed finish. Discuss suitability and availability at the visit; any respray work and who carries it out must be expressly agreed in the quote.

Which kitchen refresh ideas are realistic?

Replacement doors, handles, suitable storage inserts or a worktop may suit a kitchen with sound units. The visit helps prioritise compatible changes. A new layout or widespread unit replacement calls for a wider scope.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We cannot recommend Lance and the team enough. From beginning to end him and the team were professional, knowledgeable and communicative.

Lance did multiple visits to us before starting work to ensure the best end result, our bathroom was a difficult refurbishment to say the least, but the final result is a testament to Lance and the teams skill and determination.

When the work was being completed they were clean and tidy, often worked incredibly long days and kept me informed on any changes or challenges. He worked with us to keep to our budget updated us on any additional material charges.

My neighbour even commented on how friendly and polite they all were.

I have already recommended Lance to multiple people but will also have them back for any other renovation we need completing in the future. I wouldn't go with anyone else now.

The quality of their work is to a very high standard. They arrived on the agreed date to commence the renovation, were on time every morning, cleaned up after them every evening, and were pleasant and communicative throughout.
I can’t recommend this company highly enough and would certainly use them again or recommend them to friends and family.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Cooksey renovations and the team did an amazing job with our new kitchen and flooring. The job needed blocking up doors, windows and a fair bit of plastering. They were all really tidy and cleaned up after each day before they left. I'm so happy with the work they have done. Thank you!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I cannot recommend Lance and his team enough! They have renovated both my bathroom and en-suite as well as repairing and replastering my living room ceiling following existing water damage.
When I moved into my house, I knew there was gonna be a lot of work to do following previous leaks in the en suite and previous bad workmanship. All the team were professional, trustworthy and skilled in how they transformed my house. They kept everything clean and tidy (I even caught them hoovering my doorstep at one stage!) and made the house useable in between their working days. I had a very specific vision and they were able to make my dreams come to life and I’m so pleased with the end result.
They ripped out my old suites, replaced rotten floor boards, rebuilt damaged walls and install all new paperwork. Nothing was too much trouble and they were also the most competitive quote I received.
I have a kitchen and artexed ceilings to be renovated in the new year and there is no one else I would consider using.
Thanks guys! I really love what you’ve done!

Excellent job, highly recommend. Would definetly use again.
