Bathroom renovations in Barry & the Vale of Glamorgan

The daily room

Make the daily room easier to use

A cramped or dated bathroom is the room you use every day and enjoy the least. Drainage and who uses the room are checked before a layout is priced.

Bathroom renovations across Barry start with the room as it is. A full refit, wet room, en suite and walk-in shower are different jobs. Fitting a new suite sits inside a refurbishment when the room is already a bathroom.

Easier every day

Access, storage, and a shower or bath are set around who uses the room, so the daily routine feels easier.

Replace the suite

A tired suite can be replaced, while a new bathroom careful planning needs different preparation.

Shower type and timing

Tanking, drainage and how long the room closes are agreed before tiles or a start date.

How you want to wash

Wet room, en suite or walk-in shower

A refurbishment is a room that is already a bathroom. A wet room, an en suite and a walk-in shower are specialist builds.

Bathroom refurbishment

A refurbishment is a room that is already a bathroom. Bathroom fitting of a new suite sits inside it.

Wet room

A drained, tanked floor with no tray. It is a way of building, not a name for every walk-in shower.

En suite

A bathroom opening off a bedroom, planned around the room and its existing layout.

Walk-in shower

A tray and screen within an existing bathroom, rather than a fully tanked wet room.

Start with the room as it is

Drainage and who uses the room are checked before a layout is priced.

Cost and timing

The suite, the shower type and how long the room closes

Bathroom tiling is priced with the room. It is not added after the new bathroom suite has already been chosen.

Bathroom renovation cost

A bathroom renovation cost follows the suite, the tiling, and how far the drainage and electrics move. It is written after the room is seen.

Bathroom renovation timeline

A bathroom renovation timeline depends on the strip-out, drying and tile. The quote says how long the room is closed; it is not a guess.

Building regulations for a bathroom

Building regulations for a bathroom can apply to drainage, ventilation and electrics, especially where the room was not a bathroom before. Welsh rules for a new or altered bathroom set out when the work needs approval.

Projects

Three bathrooms, three different jobs

A new bathroom in Penarth was made from an unused room. A bathroom refurbishment in Barry was a tired room, fully refurbished. Rhoose is blue tiles and a tray walk-in shower, not a wet room or en suite.

Process

Drainage is settled before the suite is drawn

The visit checks the drainage, ventilation and who else uses the room, before a layout is drawn.

The old suite comes out, services are set and the walls are made ready. Tiles, the suite and screen are fitted last, and the room returns when that sequence is finished.

Questions

Before the room is stripped out

These answers cover shower types, room use and how long the bathroom is closed.

Is a walk-in shower a wet room?

No. A walk-in shower here has a tray. A wet room is a tanked floor with no tray. The Rhoose bathroom has a tray. A wet room does not.

Was the Penarth bathroom an en suite?

No. It was a spare room. An en suite opens off a bedroom. Penarth did not.

How long is the only bathroom closed?

The quote says. If the house has a second bathroom, the sequence can keep one open. That is agreed before the start.

Our old house threw up so many extra problems to work around, but the guys kept us well informed and worked hard to overcome everything

They truly brought my vision of a modern meets vintage bathroom to life

I'm especially obsessed with the tiling work, the detail and the effort for all those extra little touches make the room look so fab

I am absolutely over the moon with how it's turned out! Thank you thank you thank you!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We cannot recommend Lance and the team enough. From beginning to end him and the team were professional, knowledgeable and communicative.

Lance did multiple visits to us before starting work to ensure the best end result, our bathroom was a difficult refurbishment to say the least, but the final result is a testament to Lance and the teams skill and determination.

When the work was being completed they were clean and tidy, often worked incredibly long days and kept me informed on any changes or challenges. He worked with us to keep to our budget updated us on any additional material charges.

My neighbour even commented on how friendly and polite they all were.

I have already recommended Lance to multiple people but will also have them back for any other renovation we need completing in the future. I wouldn't go with anyone else now.

The quality of their work is to a very high standard. They arrived on the agreed date to commence the renovation, were on time every morning, cleaned up after them every evening, and were pleasant and communicative throughout.
I can’t recommend this company highly enough and would certainly use them again or recommend them to friends and family.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Cooksey renovations and the team did an amazing job with our new kitchen and flooring. The job needed blocking up doors, windows and a fair bit of plastering. They were all really tidy and cleaned up after each day before they left. I'm so happy with the work they have done. Thank you!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I cannot recommend Lance and his team enough! They have renovated both my bathroom and en-suite as well as repairing and replastering my living room ceiling following existing water damage.
When I moved into my house, I knew there was gonna be a lot of work to do following previous leaks in the en suite and previous bad workmanship. All the team were professional, trustworthy and skilled in how they transformed my house. They kept everything clean and tidy (I even caught them hoovering my doorstep at one stage!) and made the house useable in between their working days. I had a very specific vision and they were able to make my dreams come to life and I’m so pleased with the end result.
They ripped out my old suites, replaced rotten floor boards, rebuilt damaged walls and install all new paperwork. Nothing was too much trouble and they were also the most competitive quote I received.
I have a kitchen and artexed ceilings to be renovated in the new year and there is no one else I would consider using.
Thanks guys! I really love what you’ve done!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Cooksey Renovations updated our tired bedrooms. Removed an old built in office, and two sets of large fitted wardrobes, removed one wall and door to enlarge main bedroom, made good all coving, fitted new radiators and flooring and much more.
Excellent job, highly recommend. Would definetly use again.
Many more photos on their Facebook page.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A return visit by Cooksey renovations to tile the floor of 3 existing bathrooms that didn’t need a complete re fitting.

The work was to the highest and we are delighted with the end result. We have no reservations in recommending Cooksey renovations for this type of work.
